Day 11: The Wall

Woke up with a bit of a headache.  I find the aircon air very dry, and have been waking up feeling a little desiccated!  My stupid knee that plays up as soon as I stop stretching every 5 mins started playing up, so the morning walk was a bit slow and not as enjoyable as it has been.  School work seemed a bit fraught.  Alex and Owen were fine, but Amelia was struggling to do anything really - even when I was spoon feeding her.  Seems like this was just going to be one of those days....  Lunch came and went and we headed back outside for our second walk.  There were a lot of people in the yard.  The yoga lady had taken over the middle of the walking circuit and there was a group of younger people sitting on one side.   The army guy came out and asked the yoga people to spread out a bit, which tightened the walking circuit.  Someone came out and asked the younger group to spread out a bit, and the bloke standing in the smoking area without his mask to put it back on (he wasn't smoking, just chatting)  The whole thing set me on edge a bit and we cut our walk short.  In retrospect I should have gone to bed at lunchtime and just had a nap!

We set up for our exercise class and cracked into it.  I figured I'd feel better after doing a bit of exercise.  I'm a bit restricted by the stupid knee (no star jumps or leaping about) but soon figured out a lower impact way of doing things.  Matt tore his shorts almost in half doing the cool down which entertained the troops much and I felt much better for the experience :)

I figure everyone is going to have down days.  No particular reason, and nothing really to be done about it.  We have had it pretty good here - the hotel is great, they are pretty quick to respond to things that not working very well and have good systems in place for making this as painless as possible.  Oh and the weather has been absolutely fabulous!

We discovered this evening that we can actually open one of our windows a bit - all but one are locks, but one we can open about 10cm.  Lovely to have some fresh air in the room, and I can peek my camera out!

  1. I'm impressed it took 11 days to hit The Wall! There's no way in heck being stuck in a hotel with limited activities after dramatically changing your life after 5 years in a different country would escape without a tricky day or two. Even the leaves immediately fell off the trees in front of your Lochside place as soon as you left. Hang in there! Have Matt tear all his shorts if it keeps you all laughing! <3. So glad you have an open window. I'd be hanging my face out of it like a dog - can't stand being locked into hotels! Three more days - you've got this in the bag, since you done three full sets of three already. Looking forward to seeing blogs of your getting home very, very soon. Leaf and I went to HPC Gardens today, ate a spicy fuchsia berry, got renewed with Amelia's nature energy and thought of you, but instead of heavy and hot, today was windy, freshly rained and clear.
