15 Sept: So Tired.....
We arrived at our quarantine hotel at about 9am, so I'm counting the 15th as our first day in! Once we had checked in, we got our luggage, grabbed some snacks and headed to the room. They had allocated us two suites - one with two queens in a single room and the other two rooms with a king and two queens - a bed for everyone! We have a giant bathroom and the benefit of two bar fridges for all the bloody cans of fizz and bottles of milk headed our way! The boys bagsied the separate room, and Matt got to the king sized bed before Amelia (lucky!)
The major disadvantage of coming off a long haul flight and going straight into quarantine, is that there is no family to keep you awake till a sensible hour. We decided to busy ourselves with unpacking (who wants to live out of suitcases for two weeks) reading the information pack, filling in the myriad of forms required, and waiting for lunch. Unpacking was painful. When you took a solid day to get everything into the suitcases and get the suitcases balanced so that none of them were over weight, it is a difficult thing to unpack for two weeks...
We filled in health and wellbeing forms and slipped them back under the door for the team to pick up. We also checked out the menu and ordered our preferences for the duration of our stay. The food all sounds pretty good and they have veg/vegan and gluten free all covered - except for a dodgy sounding 'gluten free' couscous. Some of the options didn't sound so great to the kids, but we assured them that they would have to eat some of it or starve!
After lunch we tried to access the outdoor area. Any time that we are out of our rooms we need to be wearing a mask. There is hand sanitiser outside the lift and you are expected to use it before entering and after you get out. We arrived at the ground floor and were heading for the outdoor space when one of the Aviation security guys stopped us. They had shut the outdoor area because the wind had come up and the fences were blowing over.... dang! So we turned around and instead of going back up the lift, we hit the stairs. Everyone made it to the top without too much complaining. We decided seem as we were already warmed up we would start the 14 day fitness program I'd signed us up for with In Motion Fitness. We pushed the two beds against the walls and did our thing. Much huffing and puffing and sweating and groaning later we all filtered through the shower and tried to stay awake until dinner arrived. Dinner was all done by about 6.30 and the kids were in bed by 7. Solid asleep! Matt and I managed to last until about 8 - 8.30 ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Fitness while jetlagged and quarantining in a hotel suite? I am SERIOUSLY impressed!!
